Hmmm only 4 days left in HLH, so I should speed up my journal of my holiday with my mom, otherwise I won't be finished befor I leave!

Day 8
We were on our way to coromandel Peninsula and slept in the mountains. When we woke up, we got dressed, tidied the camper and drove towards Hahei where the Hot Water Beach is. Once there it turned out we just had to wait a little for low tide, and so we did. We spent our time having lunch at the beach..

At 1.30 pm we could safely dig our hole in the sand. We chose our spot and started digging! It was so weird, the deeper you got, the warmer the water was. At one spot at the beach you couldn't even stand properly so hot was the water emerging from the hot spring below the surface.
The water from the spring was around 64 degrees celsius...Lucky for us we chose a spot where both warm (hot) and cold water came up when we dug the hole.

When our private spa pool was done, we took of our clothes (except for the bikini and bathing suit..) and "jumped" in our pool. The thing with a sandpool is that it somehow fills up again so you have to keep removing sand all the time. After lying around for 45 minutes or so, we decided we should leave our pool.
In the camper I found out I took half the beach with me in my bikini! Yuk.

We decided to sleep at a campsite for a night so we could take a shower and do some laundry. We got a nice spot at the beach.
After we had reserved our spot, we drove towards Cathedral Cove, which you can also visit only during low tide. It is a massive hollow in the cliff, sort of a natural tunnel. Really nice! But to get there you had to walk for 40 minutes downhill. Downhill was not the problem, the way back obviously was...uphill...mmmm great...

When we got back to the campsite we decided to have a look at the beach where the sun was setting. My mom had this great idea, she went to the campervan to get us some drinks and something to "knabbel." There we were, sitting at a beach at sunset, enjoying a glass of Port (&coke for me)yeah...once again:
We had such a hard time!
